Lesson 6: Printing the Letter "d" - Lara's Voice
Hello, my friends! So nice to see you.
Today, we’re moving on from the letter A… by doing the letter A again—but this time, we’ll add one extra line. And that will give us the letter… can you guess?
Look at your alphabet. Look closely—what’s the next letter that kind of looks like the letter A?
We did A, which is the first letter.
B? No...
C? Not quite...
D? Yes! You're right.
The letter D is a lot like the letter A—except for one small change. When you go up and bump that top line before coming straight down, this time I want you to keep going, all the way up, and bump the next line up.
This is actually why we write on every second line—so we have space for tall letters like D.
Now let’s practice together.
Start by making the letter A—do you remember how to do that?
You begin with the letter C... then come back up to the top, keep going, bump the line above the one you started near, and then come straight down to touch the line where your A is sitting. Great job.
Now, you have two choices here:
You can make a C, lift your pencil off the page, go to the top, and then bring it down in a straight line.
Or—you can make a C, continue up without lifting your pencil, bump the top line, and come straight down.
That second one? That’s the way I recommend.
Alright—now I’d like you to write three Ds.
Then stop, look at them, and circle the one you like best.
Now write three more.
Stop again, and circle your favorite.
Keep going like this for as long as it feels fun to you.
Good job!
