  • Lesson 1 - Choosing Pen and Paper

Today, we’re going to decide what we want to write with. This might sound small, but it’s actually really important—when you’re putting in all this effort, you want to enjoy what you’re writing with and what you’re writing on. All writers pay attention to this.

  • Lesson 2: Orientation to Looseleaf

Today we’re going to start printing, and the first thing we need to look at is the page.

If you’re using a lined piece of loose-leaf paper, I want you to notice something: there’s a red line running from the top to the bottom. Can you find it? Go ahead and put your finger on it. That’s right!

  • Lesson 3: Tripod Grip and Letter Size

Today we're going to talk about printing. And you might think, I already know how to print. Except that if you're not making your letters a certain way, people aren't able to read your beautiful writing as well as you think they can. So that's important.

  • Lesson 4: Line spacing for letters the right height

Now, I want you to take a look at your page and notice how the lines are all evenly spaced. But if we try to write on every single line, do you see how crowded our writing can get?

  • Lesson 5: Printing the letter "a"

We’re going to start printing with the letter A. The letter A is a great one to begin with, because there are quite a few other letters that are just A with a little something added at the end.

Once you learn how to make A, you’ll also be able to make some other letters too. Can you guess which ones?

  • Lesson 6: Printing the letter "d"

Today, we’re moving on from the letter A… by doing the letter A again—but this time, we’ll add one extra line. And that will give us the letter… can you guess?

Look at your alphabet. Look closely—what’s the next letter that kind of looks like the letter A?

    D? Yes! You're right.

  • Lesson 6: Printing the Letter "d" - Lara's Voice

Hello, my friends! So nice to see you.

Today, we’re moving on from the letter A… by doing the letter A again—but this time, we’ll add one extra line. And that will give us the letter… can you guess?

Look at your alphabet. Look closely—what’s the next letter that kind of looks like the letter A?

We did A, which is the first letter.

    B? No...

    C? Not quite...

    D? Yes! You're right.

The letter D is a lot like the letter A—except for one small change.
